// INDUSTRY OVERVIEW
Industry Overview:
Within the new materials and new energy sectors, the photovoltaic industry—centered on the widely utilized and evolving silicon material supply chain—generates electricity directly by harnessing the photovoltaic effect when sunlight strikes silicon materials. In the photovoltaic industry, the primary stages where process waste gas is generated include silicon wafer production, solar cell manufacturing, and solar module assembly.
Photovoltaic exhaust gases primarily consist of acid and alkaline gases, organic exhaust, thermal emissions and general gases, dust-laden exhaust, and flammable or explosive gases. Organic exhaust is generated during the silicon wafer wire-cutting stage and the solar cell screen-printing and firing stages; the high temperatures involved in these processes cause organic substances to volatilize, resulting in emissions composed mainly of volatile organic compounds.
