// INDUSTRY OVERVIEW

Industry Overview:

The packaging and printing industry utilizes large quantities of solvent-based inks during production. These inks contain 50%–60% volatile components; when combined with the thinners required to adjust ink viscosity, significant amounts of volatile organic compound (VOC) waste gases are emitted during the printing and drying processes. These emissions primarily consist of highly volatile gases such as benzene, toluene, xylene, and non-methane total hydrocarbons. The extensive evaporation of ink not only results in solvent waste but also poses serious risks to workers and the surrounding environment. Consequently, the treatment of waste gas in the printing industry is a critical aspect of environmental management.

Industry Status:

The generation of VOC (volatile organic compound) waste gases in the printing industry is primarily concentrated in the following two processes:

  • Ⅰ.Printing and Drying Stages

    VOC emissions from publishing and printing enterprises are primarily concentrated in the printing and drying stages.

  • Ⅱ.Printing and Adhesive Lamination Stages

    VOC emissions from flexible packaging printing enterprises primarily occur during the printing and adhesive lamination stages.
